My name is Nemain Morgan-Curtis. I was born in Nashville, Tennessee, but I like to joke and say I was raised in Smashville (the aptly named hockey town of the Nashville Predators).

I graduated from Hillsboro High School in May 2019 with Honors and Distinction, and later also received my International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Diploma. I currently attend Agnes Scott College (ASC) and am earning my Bachelor’s Degree in History with a minor in Education.

I have always wanted to be a teacher. I feel that teachers are an integral part of any student’s life and every student deserves representation in the classroom. I want to be able to teach history in a way that allows students to find themselves in the story, so that they don’t believe that they’ve been washed out or forgotten. I want them to know that their voice is heard and that it matters.

While attending ASC, I have the privilege to play for the soccer team. Sports, in general, provide discipline, a sense of belonging, and can teach important lessons about life, which is why I recently decided that being able to teach and coach is my real dream. I had a coach who once told me every day that sports are “more than just a game,” which I wholeheartedly believe. Because of my coaches and teachers, I am who I am today, and I want to be able to inspire students and players in the same way.
